Two-Way Spanish Language Immersion Program
Do you want your child to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish and English?
Boone Elementary, through its Spanish Immersion program, offers a great opportunity for children to learn Spanish beginning in Kindergarten. This program is a two -way dual immersion model, where the classrooms are made up of Spanish and English speakers.
What is Spanish Language Immersion?
In the primary grades, students receive all academic instruction in Spanish, along with dedicated time for English Language Arts. The instructional time in Spanish and English is adjusted over time and reaches a 50-50 balance in each language in 3rd-5th grades. Kindergarten & 1st Grade - 90% Spanish 10% English
2nd Grade 80% Spanish 20% English
3rd Grade - 70% Spanish 30% English
4th and 5th Grade - 50% Spanish 50% English

How can my child get in this program? Boone School accepts applications from other San Diego schools and from other districts in San Diego county. Families residing in San Diego Unified School District, but outside of the Boone boundaries must apply with an Enrollment Options application. Families outside of San Diego Unified School District must apply with an Enrollment Options application AND submit an approved Interdistrict Attendance Permit from their resident school district office.
